Counseling for the Daring Traveler
It all begins when you decide to break away without the “group of tourists” surrounding you. You may be planning to go it alone, with a companion or with a few friends that share your enthusiasm for adventure; and it’s not that difficult! Perhaps this site will offer some helpful advice to motivate you into action, to decide where to go, when to go and how to plan to get there. There may be even a thought or two on what to do when you arrive at your destination. This advice comes from a well seasoned traveler that rarely uses a travel agent or travel agency to plan for me and my traveling companions.
The New Year brings new touring options…
eBikes made their way into our lives; now touring will be about finding exciting places to ride them; but before we travel let’s reminisce…
Mount Desert Island…
…has a lot to offer other than just Acadia National Park. Check out Bass Harbor while you’re in the area and find out just how lovely it can be.
Enough COVID Already…
Vaccinated and still getting the damn virus really sucks, but out of quarantine now and on the road again! See where.
Seems everyone is trying to catch up for lost pandemic time…
But there are interesting things to see along your journey even if it is just a local stop.
Having some time on my hands, I stopped at this wayside along Route 220 near Roacky Mount, VA. I have traveled past this place many, many times and never took the time to check it out…well it is quite interesting and the local Franklin County Creek Freaks have made it functional for canoe or kayak use. But more importantly the area has been dedicated to 2 lost lives on the water: Chris Odum and Nichole Underwood. If you ever drive by stop and take time to enjoy this quiet spot away from the hustle bustle of the daily grind.
